Episode 27
Wuhan Diary: Dispatches from a Quarantined City by Fang Fang, read by Emily Woo Zeller
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in the epicenter of the COVID pandemic? Fang Fang is the pen name of a 64-year-old Wuhan novelist and poet who wrote 60 posts in 60 days between Jan. 23 and April 7 on WeChat, described as China's "app for everything" and Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter. Her posts attracted more than 380 million views while she was quarantined in Wuhan, along with the rest of the city. I recommend you listen to the afterward by translator Michael Berry before you listen to or read the rest of Fang’s book.
